Another Sunday in the South and grandbaby pics

Good evening readers,
hope your sunday was nice. I had a really good day.We went to church this morning,the sermon was uplifting with dinner following.We have a new pastor,his name is Dale Alexander,our church sooooo needed him and his wife cindy.I go to the little country church up the road from where i live,i grew up going there,but for a while now it has so dwindled down,like a lot of other church's.But let something bad happen and there isn't hardly room to hold em!
Anyway,my daughter and the kids all came today as well.They typically go to Mt .Piscah ,but joined us today as well as adam and his son.
We said goodby to a dear lady today as well.Mrs. helen cravey was laid to rest this evening at new hope .She is in a far better place,there is no doubt in my mind.She is reunited in heaven with her hubby and family or sleeping peacefully awaiting jesus.Which i am not sure,but either is much better...no more pain.She was 85 i believe.
I felt like adding a few pics of my family,mostly the grands,and sharing them with you.Grands are Billy-age 6,Kolby (blonde)age 3,charlie and summer.I really enjoy visiting your blogs and seeing your family pictures.
May be on later with a few contest,but for now,supper awaits..

May God Bless Us each and every one,
Betty R.~Simply Southern

Saturdays Fall Festival and contest in bloggville

well after an awful last night,sick,,soooo sick..,me and kolby went to Rita's and all of us went with the kids to the fall festival at the church.I thought it was at school but it was at church in town..They also had Opp fest going on at the same time ,so it was a lot of fun.There was about 20 games set up for the kids to play and win candy and small toys and they had 2 jumping things for them1 for the smaller kids and 1 for the larger.It was overall a great time and it was super nice at the church grounds.We went home after a couple hours and had burgers.Nick (their dad) took Billy to the store and let him pick out a video game .He got all a's on report card so he got what he was promised!He chose the new frogger game!It was awesome.The graphics,i just stood there staring at the screen!A huge difference from the frogger we have..lol..if you are looking for a fun fame for the kids,GEt FROGGER!!!!
Cold weather ,or in the 30's anyway,is coming in next week,looking like it will be cool/cold for trick or treating.The kids won't burn up in their costumes this year maybe...

Halloween Treats Homemade recipes/Contest in Bloggville /more.

Happy Friday Readers,
We had over 3 inches of rain overnight here in central south Alabama,i could not be happier!That was our first real rainfall i know in a month and a half!It was wonderful hearing the rain on the roof last night.Better than any lullaby to me.So i am thankful to God above for that.My mom's pond is looking rough as well,i know she is thankful for the rain.
What are your plans for Halloween?Lot's of things going on this time of year as far as fall festivals go as well.We will be going to south highlands for the school fest ,where billy is enrolled,Saturday night.Looking forward to that with the kids it will be fun.Rita and Nick will be taking the boys to the Kiwanis fair tonight In Andalusia.It is our counties fair with a carnival as well.I am sure they will have a good time.
Halloween will be celebrated next weekend by most,we have plans to go to Andalusia,for trick or treat on the square.Billy is a Ninja and Kolby will be a white power ranger,not sure just yet what Summer will be.Charlize Mae and Julie are spending time in Arizona with her folks,they will be returning DEC. 10th.Charlie Mae will be a pepper!
Kolby is watching Sponge Bob so i thought i'd jump on and add a few recipes that would be fun to make with the kids on Halloween.Try them and see what fun it is!Rita has been doing a lot of baking with the boys lately and sending goodies for Billy's classmates to enjoy.He loves doing that!I hope you enjoy them,let me know if you decide to try them and what the kids thought..I'll return the visit and comment.Thanks for stopping by today.

WANTED TO SHARE THIS RECIPE FROM The cute kid
HOMEMADE PUMPKIN PIE!!

Ingredients:
* 1 medium sugar pumpkin (4-5 lbs = 1  cups pureed)
* 1 can evaporated milk
* 2 eggs
*  tsp salt
* 1 tsp cinnamon
*  tsp ginger
* 1/8 tsp cloves
* 1 piecrust
* Cooking spray

Directions:
Too cook the real pumpkin pie

1. Cut off the top of the sugar pumpkin and clean out all of the seeds and strings from the inside. This is a great job for the kids. (Note: A sugar pumpkin is usually advertised as a "pie pumpkin" but I know of people who have used regular pumpkins and their pie has turned out fine. Just stay away from the really large pumpkins with stringier flesh.)

2. Cut the pumpkin in half. Spray the cut sides with cooking spray. Place the pumpkin halves flesh side down on a cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray.

3. Bake the pumpkin at 325 degrees for about an hour or until the flesh is tender when poked with a fork.

4. When the pumpkin is done use a spoon to scrape the pumpkin from the skin. Then beat with a mixer or in a blender until it is smooth.

To make the homemade pumpkin pie:

1. Place the prepared or homemade piecrust in a 9-inch pie pan.

2. Mix the spices and salt with 1 cups pureed pumpkin.

3. Add the eggs and then the evaporated milk. Stir until all of the ingredients are well blended.

4. Pour the pumpkin pie filling into the crust. Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees. Then turn the oven down to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted about 1 inch from the edge comes out clean.

Hopefully you'll have one of the best homemade pumpkin pie you've ever made or tasted and your kids can proudly say they helped make it.

tHANKS FROM ecochildsplay.com FOR RECIPE BELOW!
Homemade Maple Candy:

* In a tall saucepan or stockpot, heat 2 cups of water to a boil. Measure the temperature of the water, then pour it out. Note the temperature.
* Heat 2 cups of maple syrup to boiling. Use a tall pot, and add a drop of vegetable oil to help keep the foam down. Do not stir.
* Don’t let the syrup boil over, or you’ll be scrubbing the stove for a long time…
* Once it has reached the boiling point, turn the heat down and wait for the temperature to rise to 33° above the temperature of the water noted above.
* Turn off the heat and let cool for several minutes.
* Stir the syrup until it thickens and gets opaque (3 to 5 minutes).
* Pour into greased molds (mini muffin pans work great) or onto a greased baking sheet.
* Let the candy cool and set up for 30 minutes, then remove from mold.
* Wrap in waxed paper to hand out to the wee ones.

If you’ve got snow, you can pour the syrup over a bowl of snow instead of into a mold to make “Sugar on Snow” or “leather britches” (maple taffy).

CLR & my tackles/The dollar's up/blogville contest for wed.)

Readers make sure you scoot over and visit 5minutesformom !There is always something interesting going on over there!Honestly when i first started blogging she was one of the one's that got me thinking i would like this!And i doooo!
They have tackle it Tuesdays and wordless Wednesdays ,Lot's of fun.Well i signed up in tackle it Tuesday to do a cleaning with a product called CLR.I was mailed a full size bottle to tackle my cleaning chores,and maybe a few i got behind on!lol..ok,now remember i have 5 grand kids in and out a lot plus 3 men/boys still in the house..SOOOOO. with that in mind.I have to say i was completely amazed!I will be getting more.Later this afternoon i will be adding a few pics of my ''cleaning jobs''.The first couple small jobs i neglected to read to let it set a few minutes,wow!CLR can tackle even your toughest jobs in the house.
I also tried something that usually i would not recommend!My hubby's job is a mechanic at a big plant,which insures that a lot of times he has oil smudged in the knees of his pants.It does not take long for these oil and dirt days to turn into permanent stains and ruin the pants.WELL...i saw how good it did on other things and i just had to try it.I figured worse case scenario i would just throw them away and be quiet!lol..BUT..i sprayed a little CLR on the dirt and grime tossed them in the washer ,and viola!all THE STAINS WERE GONE!Needless to say i tried it on a few more stains and now they are gone as well!And i have hard water....I am a new customer of CLR!
Pics will be up this afternoon!!!!

Oh and i read earlier the dollar's up,which is very good.It is always a good thing to be able to find some positive amongst all this negative mess we have going on right now.A long way to go,but an economic breather non the less..Stay alert and on top of things with a positive attitude and faith!
