On coming food shortages,,Loss of job's..Please prepare now

Good morning all,i hope your weekend went well.Me and my neighbor burned off a field friday night and last night.He had the timber cut last year and it was time to clean it off.We discussed it being a nice place for a garden as well.That would make 3.I have one here at the house,1 behind his house and this one now maybe.Still time to get some things in the ground.Everyday the economy looks worse and worse.I hope there are a lot of people who are gardening this year.Food shortages,gas prices....whew...Depression here we come.I am not a doomsday slayer so ..don't go there,just a realist...look around,check history out and if you don't see an impending problem,you live in a rose colored glass.It is coming readers,it is.....has too to be able to fix this mess we have....No reason to panic at all,just prepare and you will be ok for the year or so i see it being bad.My worse fear in this is the people who will not prepare at all,either because they can't afford too(we are struggling) or the people who refuse to see a problem.These will be the one's who become the threats because they will be searching for a way to feed themselves and their families.It is not like it use to be,you could invite anyone into your home for a meal or a place to stay,and each help each other.It is a different world now,you invite them in and they steal all your stuff and leave or kill you...scary world we live in.....
would not hurt to have a back up plan for a job..Have a feeling a lot of ''mom and pop'' places will be coming out of this mess,be a good security blanket for everyone.Have a hobbie or talent ,put it to work for you...
I am beginning to do the white oak and willow baskets again(like my grandfather lee did),as well as handcrafts using natural elements..i'll post some pics soon.I also have started doing shower gifts ..diaper cakes,ribbons,etc...these wll be up soon as well..I am taking orders for them,so if this is something you are intersted in just let me know.

There are alot of great sites online to help you plan,grow food,canning it,stocking up,solar ovens.All kind of useful advise.I do hope you look into it while you still have access to internet...i really do............................

god bless us all.....

SuperBug Virus,Tax Rebate ,will it save us?~2008 DEPRESSION ..WTSHTF

********Epidemic superbug strains evolved from one bacterium*************

The drug-resistant "superbugs" that have cut a swathe through day care centers, schools, locker rooms and prisons across the United States in the last five years stem from one rapidly evolving bacterium, US scientists said Monday.
Scientists studying the genetic make-up of these bugs, which are resistant to almost all antibiotics, say they are nearly identical clones that have emerged from a single bacterial strain, which they have dubbed USA300.

"The USA300 group of strains appears to have extraordinary transmissibility and fitness," said Frank DeLeo, a researcher with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Hamilton, Montana.

"We anticipate that new USA300 derivatives will emerge within the next several years and that these strains will have a wide range of disease-causing potential."

Most drug-resistant staph infections cause soft-tissue infections such as boils that are readily treatable, but a skin infection can become a deadly pneumonia or blood or bone infection in a matter of days if the patient doesn't get the right drugs.

What's particularly worrying to health authorities is that the MRSA infections, (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) have spread beyond their traditional hospital setting, seeding an epidemic in the wider community.

***********************TAX REBATE~~WILL THIS SAVE US?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
tHIS WRITER SEE'S THIS AS A LAST DITCH EFFORT TO STOP THE 2008 DEPRESSION!!!!
can this help?i think not..at least unless the stores are willing to cut prices drastically.This will be the only way to stop this recession from happening.If prices fell it would encourage folks to spend more money becuase they could AFFORD TO!OK...let me ask you this scenerio...If you are handed 800.00 today,and you ,the typical person,are watching what is happening all over the place and seeing the stocks free fall today ,as has been for a while now,and see what is loomimg over the hill,Will you rush out and spend this one a new washer,car payment,remodel???NOT IF YOU HAVE ANY SENCE!
No ,this money will be spent on groceries as needed ,or pay bills...Unless you are lucky enough to not be effected by all these being rich!People are getting scared,and they need to be!This is only the beginning...I am afraid i see the depression coming on again.And you know sometimes i think this may be what we all need a dose of.To a lot of people material goods have too long overriden human needs.Do you really need 5 tv sets? 3 cars(new ones at that)?5 bedroom homes for 2 or 3 people??PLEASE! i KNOW PEOPLE WHO OWN 30-40 ACRES OF LAND.How much edible food is planted on it yearly? NONE!!!!!they go buy it ,it is easier they say.Who do you know picks berries or fruit and cans it for their families?Most folks know noone.will this tax incentive save us?????..Will this happen,no!Because greed has eaten america up! For way too long the big guys have eaten up the little one's until there is no more to eat!America has forgotten how to be self reliance. Now america will pay the price as well as other nations attached to us.Just the way it is i am afraid.And for any of you who still think writers like me are doomsdayer's...Google it...See what happened around the world while you slept!Markets crashed all over!And take a look at what happened on wall street this morning...I highly recommend you begin to prepare for this while you can.Protect your family.Begin quickly if you have not already in stockpiling at the very least ,can foods,veggies,meats,etc.If you have land learn how to grow some crops,it really is not hard to do and you will enjoy it.Think about how you would keep your family warm.right now if all power was off and gas cut off.Could you do it?If not you better figur out a plan.There are hundreds of thousands of us already who are prepared or preparing for this.But we can not feed everyone.You better think about when Katrina hit the gulf region.My family was there volunteering.We saw it and thousands more.When this happens,shtf,electricity,gas,water,food ,medical needs,baby food,ALL GONE!!!!!!!!!IMMEDIATLY!!!!if yu wait till it happens ,IT IS TOO LATE PEOPLE.......
your money will soon be worthless to you.If there is no one to buy from,what good is it? While you are preparing stock up on some stuff you can barter with as well.You will also need some kind of protection for your family.Yes i mean guns!If you are one of the smart one's ,every one else who is not will be trying to take your stuff.Will no longer be out of greed,but survival!So you better be prepared to defend yourselves or be killed.I hate to stroke the scary clock but it is already ticking.I pray dayly for better things here in america and protection over my family and loved ones.I know god is full of grace and love for his children ...He is also gracious in giving us knowledge and an inner prompting to let us know when something is about to happen!Don't you feel it???change is coming reader's ,AND IT IS COMING QUICKLY!!!!!iPRAY WE WILL ALL BE PREPARED....

Pot Belly Pig at the Fireplace ! Vaccination Recall! (contest lookout as well)

The clouds are beautiful this morning!i love the strat clouds.We have a small chance of rain in the forecast as well.Finally i think for us,we have got close to coming out of drought,at least for the time being.I see water staying in the ditches again for several days after rain has left and water also is still coming out of the ditch banks up and down the road.Been a while since i saw that.I would like to see the creeks and rivers back up closer to normal,but with the exception of clear creek(whose mouth starts near here) that is not the case.
I do believe i have found a home for my pot bellied pig,arnold.She has just gotten too big for my household!When someone shows you this very cute little piglet,and says oh,,,,it just gets 35 pounds,DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!!!!!
I payed for one for my grands last year ,potty trained ,sets for you and got used to staying in house...Arnold is now about 140 pds.!And still stays in at night!Just gotten too big ...We have a fireplace we use mainly for heat.Night before last we awoke to the shrill beeping of the smoke alarm AT 2 AM..apparantly arnold had dragged her blanket too close to the fire and it was a flame!Thank goodness for smoke alarms!So time for arnold too go...That is not the only reason,i keep the fireplace grate in front of it usually,just a list of things .Not too mention new babies on the way..I am being very cautious who i give her too ,,,Too many folks see bacon and pork chops when they see her,she is a pet,not food!!!!
But i can not stress smok alarms too much right now..Before that accident even had time to get bad the alarms were going off..If you still do not have smoke alarms in your home,GET SOME!!!!They recommend one to every entry(and i do too!)of doorways.They could very well save your home and your life and your loved ones!At the cost of a few bucks a peice,get a hand full!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND ALSO THIS MORNING,VACCINATION RECALL--PAY CLOSE ATTENTION IF YOU HAVE /OR PLANNING/ VACCINATING YOUR CHILD...LOOK!!!!
Certain lots of the Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine and the combination Hib/Hepatitis B vaccine produced by Merck & Co., Inc. have been recalled by the manufacturer. These vaccines are given to young children as part of the regular immunization schedule. The Hib vaccine prevents certain forms of meningitis and pneumonia. Merck decided to recall the vaccine because it found that the equipment used to make the vaccine could become contaminated. The vaccine in the recalled lots has not been found to be contaminated and it is not likely that a child who received a dose of the recalled vaccine will have a problem. Parents of children vaccinated with recalled vaccine within the past few weeks should watch for any signs of infection and contact their physician if there is swelling or redness at the injection site. Children who have already received this vaccine do not need to be revaccinated. Other sources of the vaccine are available, so a shortage may be avoided. At this time pediatricians are advised to discontinue use of the affected lots and to continue immunizing their patients as usual. If a temporary shortage occurs, doses could be delayed for certain ages. Children at higher risk for Hib infections should be vaccinated on schedule. For more information, go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Q and A.

The folks at Lands' End have generously provided our final giveaway of the season, a special edition Lionel train set featuring scenes from the award winning film It's a Wonderful Life. This beautiful $299 O-Gauge set hearkens back to the days before video games and computers, when kids dreamed of a train set under the tree. This set doesn't disappoint with a genuine die-cast metal locomotive, two cars with opening doors and a classic red caboose.

Bohus couldn't resist taking a look inside the box and gleefully reports that the engine features a real air whistle, puffing smoke and an illuminated headlamp. The set runs on AC power and features remote-controlled forward, neutral and reverse. It also includes magnetic couplers, along with metal wheels and axles to ensure miles of trouble free service. The track features a textured roadbed to help keep everything in place. It's recommended for ages 8 and up, and I suspect grown-ups will have as much fun as kids!

Make your own biodiesel,Soaps,Detergents,Mud oven,

This blog to dedicated to a few do it yourself (DIY)projects that can proove to very useful and inexpensive at your home!With today's economy ,we could all benifit from that.Try a few .Let me know what you think about it or if you have a different way of doing these or others..your imput is valued..

your own biodiesel! sound out there?REALLY? Gas is topping 3.00 a gallon and experts in the field are forecasting that soon it will sky rocket.The price's going down right now will not last,and when they rise again ,gas will be higher!
So if you think this may be right for you..give it a shot.If directions are followed,seems reasonably easy and i certainly am not a chemist but i do think i can do it.I am going to attempt it very soon.Then i'll just have to pick up an old diesel engine before this trend catches on and they want be cheap anymore! With this seems like ,the older the model the better!And the frugal side of me loves that idea..
anyway go check it out.Step by step easy directions.Make sure you read this in it's entirity and study it before you attempt...GOOD LUCK!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DIY BIODIESEL! CHEAP GAS!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anybody can make biodiesel. It's easy, you can make it in your kitchen -- and it's BETTER than the petro-diesel fuel the big oil companies sell you. Your diesel motor will run better and last longer on your home-made fuel, and it's much cleaner -- better for the environment and better for health. If you make it from used cooking oil it's not only cheap but you'll be recycling a troublesome waste product. Best of all is the GREAT feeling of freedom, independence and empowerment it will give you. Here's how to do it -- everything you need to know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DIY SOAP!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kitchen Soap Making

handmade soap from your kitchenThe information on these pages will enable you to make soap in your own kitchen.

By following our instructions, using the recipes provided, you will be able to make a soap bar that will surpass all your expectations.

Your own handmade soap will undoubtedly feel better on your skin than just about any commercial soap you can buy, regardless of the purchase price.

You can take part in a phenomenon that is sweeping the world; the need to create a product that is as good, if not better than we remember from the past.

It also provides you with the opportunity to revive one of the skills that we have lost from our communities because of our reliance on multinational companies to provide many of our basic needs.

Be sure to read all of the instructions, including the safety instructions, thoroughly, before attempting to make your first batch of soap.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DIY LAUNDRY DETERGENT!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope by now everyone knows that regular old laundry detergents you buy in the supermarket are made from petroleum. Yep, the same stuff that powers your car. Why would you want to wash your clothes in that stuff? Although there are good alternatives available at stores like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, you can make your own for much cheaper from basic ingredients.
First, the ingredients:
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap
1/2 Cup Borax
Yep, that’s it…the three ingredients to make highly effective laundry detergent. First you want to grate/shred the bar of Naptha soap. You can use a cheese grater for this. If the pieces are not coming out small enough, you can be brave and use the food processor in the kitchen. And before you say “no way, all that soap!”….what do you think you wash the food processor with? Then combine the other 2 ingredients with the soap and you are done. You can then put it in a glass jar with a lid, preferably a recycled one like a spaghetti sauce bottle. For lighter loads, you can use 1 to 1.5 tablespoons and for heavy loads use 2 to 2.5 tablespoons.
The total cost comes out to equal about .15 cents per laundry load…not bad! Plus, you are using one less petroleum product in your house, which is good for everyone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DIY MUD OVEN! THEY ARE GREAT!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a way to have pizzas and loaves baked in your backyard. You can build your own mud oven — they are surprisingly easy to make. The main ingredients are sand, clay and water. Here are some
instructions for constructing the mud oven seen above. See these step-by-step photos: Part 2. Here are some tips on make your oven more efficient.
Mud oven Project - technical notes.

Basic oven is a simple, dome shaped shell of mud and sand
we built a simple one layer oven - however you can build up to 3 layers
dense thermal layer
less dense layer with straw
finish layer
to figure how big to make the oven - start off with deciding how often and for what you will be using it. lay out loaf/pizza pans to see how big a circle you need to contain it - thats how big the oven needs to be.

The way it was-Where & when i grew up.From pigs to ''pot licker''.

This is my first entry on my new blog. i do hope you find it enjoyable.a place to relax and at times to drift back,to a simpler time.A time when we worked hard and had simple fun.To a time with fiddles and banjo's filling the summer nights,a time of friendship and socials.When grandma's made their own meds.,and outhouses were the norm.A time that we all may be living in again.This is a blog of love ,yet survival.I see bad times coming for us as a nation,and i fear most would not be ready for this.God gave us each a mind to use.He also warned us of hard times,and to prepare.Not just spiritually(although that is a must) but physically and mentally.To be prepared ,no matter what.So i do hope you will continue to return.I will blog almost daily as i can.I welcome any ideas and your imput..thank you for stopping by.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the time of year that my mind wanders back in time often.Winter and the Holidays..A time that i cherish.Childhood and all it's innosence,imaginations,and dreams.A time before we really knew what we all would one day face.Mine was a little different than some of the friends i made as i grew older.I thought life consisted of what we knew and everyone was the same.WOW! does school change that idea..lol.
But that's for a different time.I was born in 1963,in rural south central alabama.I am one of 4 kids,lived next door to my grandparents.My great,great ,great grands homesteaded this land in 1846.Our family still owns most of it.
As I grew up things were simpler..yes,simple yet hard.A simple life with a lot of work,but somehow most of the time we had fun with it.As Summer drew down,the days got shorter,with just a nip in the air right before dark.It signaled time to finish the summer crops,bury the onions and potatoes,gather wood quicker and start chopping on the lightard stumps we had found in the woods.The fallow had just been bundled and stored in the corn shed for winter feeding for the horse,mule and cows we had.That really came in handy about jan. and feb. each year.Most of the time it meant the difference in being able to feed our livestock or sell.By working hard,we never sold.They were there for the planting and birthing come spring,when life would start all over again.
We had some hogs grandpa kept,big tall white ones.They were certainly not the friendliest animals at our house but more times than one,they came in handy for a good laugh terrorizing our ''city cousins''..lol..They were not ever meant for pets,a few times each year we would have a ''hog killing''.The big iron syrup kettle would have a huge hot fire underneth it until the water boiled.That was for the hog cleaning.I never joined in that ,but i always watched.I knew this meat would feed us over a period of many moons.
The corn had been taken to Finks griss mill,the meal was ready to be picked up.It did always make the best fried cornbread and was great with the ''potlicker'' as grandma called it. Nothing but greens(turnips) with roots cooked with plenty of juice,and poured over the baked cornbread.Man ,was that good.i still enjoy cooking that.
Most of the old people that i remember as a child have gone on to be with Jesus,only a few remain.Mr. Buster,who is 95 now,and mrs. Gracie who i believe is about that same age.We passed by Mrs. Gracies yesterday and her daughter and son in law waved in the yard.Still makes a smile come on my face.
I am lucky to live at my grandparents home now,the place where i grew up.The new generation of kids and their friends,while teens, nicknamed it ''The Old Place''.My grandparents have long since passed,but their spirit remains with me.I love this land,i love my home.Not because of the material good of it,But because it was built,cared for and struggled with out of love.An enduring love that i will carry always with me.It made me who i am.I learned who God was here,about Jesus and the Holy spirit.I learned what honesty was,and what sharing was.My grandfather use to say that he had kept all the old hand plows,seeders,etc.long after he needed them, because one day his greatgrandkids may need them.Said to take care of all of it.That one day their very lives may depend on it..I use to think that was a little crazy to come from such a smart man..I don't anymore.
I do see a lot of people that one day very soon may be in a whole lot of trouble...The economy is getting really bad,and i only see it getting worse.I see a time very soon when my family may very well need those plows for a garden.When the fireplace may be the only heat we can afford(mainly use it now anyway).
In the last few years i have found a lot of sence in beginning to stock up on extra things,just in case.Lot of family members would depend on us if it got this bad.My grandkids may need me ...And in the words of grandad lee...Their very lives may depend on it...
