Do we still trust in God? giveaway list

Do we still trust in God?
It happened with such subtlety that we scarcely noticed. Americans as employees, employers, and conservative stewards bought into a financial system disguised as our future security. This system, on which so many banked now lies in a virtual heap with grave questions regarding its recovery. It has showed its vulnerability and fleeting worth. It is a stark reminder that there is only one in whom we can trust. There is no safety in anything but God alone—in every area of our lives—including our futures, our jobs, and our retirements.

Today’s economic news seems nothing but bad heaped upon bad. Sales are down. Gas prices are up. Businesses are closing. Just this week, a major hospital in my town laid off 150 workers–mostly nurses who in the past felt very secure in their line of work. While many experts staunchly avoid the R-word (recession) to describe our present time, others have skipped right over this lesser evil to say we are headed for nothing short of a Depression. The stock market looks bleak and many bemoan great losses from their investment portfolios. Retirees are rightfully concerned. Those close to retirement are frightened and discouraged and working people across the country have retreated into a depressed economic state.

Our federal bills, emblazoned with “In God We Trust,” attest so boldly a God this nation has largely forgotten in its finances. The money motto testifies of a time when our founding fathers really did rely on God. They were building a new nation from nothing and recognized the blessing of sustenance. Today, complacency has replaced conviction and pension plans have quietly but surely usurped our trust in God as Provider. The enemy works stealthily and in secret and it seems he has found some semblance of success as Americans blanch in the aftermath of a tanking financial market. Christians, in particular, should take note as what they had become convinced was secure loses hold.

With hearts open to Him, we sing, “I Surrender All.” But do we really? In times like these, the kaleidoscope turns and we are shifted to a new and uncomfortable place where we must examine whether or not we have, in fact, surrendered all.

A Litmus Test
If you have lost your job or significant investment income, compare your general feelings of security from before the loss to now. On a scale of one to ten (ten being very secure), rank how you felt when your job or investments seemed safe. What was your general outlook on your future, your retirement, and your comfort level in life? Did your paycheck or monthly statements bring a sense of peace?

Next, rank how you feel now (with one being very insecure). In the absence of a job or a large fund, do you feel slightly adrift or unsure?

A large variation between the two scales may indicate an area where God can do some repair. Being so identified with our livelihood, no matter how great or small, that we flail without the assurance of it points to modern day idol worship. God told us to have no other gods before him. Our pensions, stocks and jobs are not our assurance—He is. One who got this right was a friend who invests in various ventures and funds. When asked how he was doing in light of the economy, he replied, “I’m doing great. My money is not.” He clearly exhibited a separation from earthly wealth, that money or lack of it, would not alter who he was or his God-calling.

If it Never Comes Again
When financial markets fall, most expect that with time they will recover. Analysts tell Americans to hold tight and wait out the slide. Christian, let me ask, what if the market never recovers? If you have held a semblance of peace because retirement is still years away or you have a secure job, it could be argued that submission to God as provider is not yet complete.

Until we are prepared to give every earthly possession over to Him and still find peace, joy, and grace, without worry, through His son, Jesus Christ, we are not acknowledging Him as Jehovah-Jireh. It’s a tall order but one He gently admonishes us toward in Matthew 6:34. Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Just prior to that, he tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and…all these things shall be added. He has our needs close to His heart and if we do our part, He will do His.

Many of us will struggle as we define these things that are added. God’s definition surely differs from ours. Most Americans trust in over-abundant provision when viewed in the global scope. Countless millions live with great joy and provision in what we would consider squalor. Could we, if pressed, continue to live and trust God in those conditions? Of course! Would it be comfortable? Most likely not. But He promised that our needs would be met.

Security Redefined
If and when the financial markets recover, we, as Christians, need to reevaluate our participation in them. Beth Moore, renowned author of many bible studies once said, “There is nothing more dangerous than friendly captivity. ” Why? Because it never remains friendly. Has the nation’s financial system lulled us into trusting it over our God? In 1 Timothy 6:17 he said, “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” His word is clear. Nothing is certain, and he makes a point to name our riches specifically. No job, no pension plan, no 401k, nor any investment will reap the return of your trust in God.

Does this mean Christians should avoid investments in our country’s financial markets altogether? Of course not. It simply casts God’s spotlight upon our hearts and questions the understanding that all treasure on earth, no matter how carefully built and stored, is temporal. We can live with or without it through our trust in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Let God work his gentle correction today and let’s return to believing, with all our being, that it is “In God We Trust.”

New Year's Eve Contest-Giveaways

Happy New Years Eve everyone!!
I hope you have a blessed and healthy year ahead.I am looking forward to it,struggles and all.Finances could be better BUT they could be a whole lot worse!I try to look at it that way and all at once it looks a lot better.The kids are all sick with the flu bug(and me)But this is very cure able with rest and meds..COULD BE A LOT WORSE.So many little ones have problems that are not cureable.Diabetes,cancer,tumors,aids,the list goes on and on.So i am very grateful to God for my blessings.I feel humbled by this..Very dependant on a God and Father that is always there.Always waiting for me to talk to him and let him know my problems,worries,concerns and desires....He has gave me hope and peace in a world that is far from that.He teaches us to give,not take.He shows us to love ,not hate.I may not agree with someone or their lifestyle,but i don't hate the person..You are to love and pray for them.I have found through this that more prayers are answered and more peace comes when peace cant be found...
There are a few things i want to do to the house this year if possible.A little more insulation as i can,windows repaired,bathroom finished.That would be nice,,lol,,I have got to get my car fixed ,having one vehicle is rough when it is gone most of the time.I am praying for high speed ..dial up is awful..yea i am still in pre historic dial up mode i am afraid.I live in a rural area that has no access to high speed other that satellite and i just have not broke down and spent the extra money each month yet,,but maybe this year.We shall see...
Rita and the 3 grand babies got moved into their apartment,Darrell and Julie and other grand baby just moved out into theirs.The house seems eerily quiet .only Zack,16 year old ,here now.I have cut down to 1 dog,great Pyrenees,just too expensive to keep the others.I am down to 3 chickens,7 ducks and the squirrels in the back yard..lol.simplicity my friend...The older i get the easier i think i want it.Hubby went hunting at day break,no meat but he is watching one.I do like deer meat and it cuts down on grocery cost as well.
I am going to begin this year again,lord wills,to make handmade items again maybe sell on etsy.I enjoy this and it does add up during the months to have a little more cash.I have a neighbors home i clean at 100.00 a month.I also do surveys here and there and enter contest/giveaways here in bloggville!I was able to add about 20 presents to family with the winnings this year!From lands end shoes,dvds,books,dolls,toys,games,journals,pens,dishes,pictures,even a play pen for charlie!So i do recommend entering,sure was a blessing to me and i do appreciate each and every blogger that puts these contest on.A BIG THANK YOU and yes!!!I pray for the works of my hands doing contest too.. ;) recommend as well.....

Happy New Year Everyone and may God Bless Us All!!!!

The Debate,Wall Street -Contest=Giveaways

Good morning!
How many are going to watch the debate tonight? I hope you do.This is such a crucial time to be deciding our next president.He will have such a mess to fix i am afraid.I heard a comment last night on the news,said people were very leery of wall street.The financial guru whom was speaking ,said ''no fear''. the old wall street we had is no more!Is that a good thing?Off the top of my head i would say ...YES! It is sad that we came to point that wall street could almost destroy us from within(with help of course) with predictions.....wall street was looking like an auction house for slaughter,only it wasn't beef being led in,it is our jobs,money,gas and futures...sad,sad...
Today, the moose-hunting mom is the most talked-about woman in the world,That would be Sarah Palin.Great to see a ''LADY'' being talked about ..;) I personally like the lady.I think she DOES have the capabilities to run the white house if needed.There is something about her that reminds me of princess Diana.We didn't all know her to begin with ,BUT the whole world fell in love with her within 10 years and i think Mrs. Sarah has the capabilities to make us all fall in love with her as well.She has good morals and values.She may not be the best speaker we have ever heard or best debater,but God knows we have had our share of them already and look at the mess we are in.So on that note i think we need some GOOD people in the white house and then some GOOD CONGRESSMEN (or ladies) to back them up.You know i can't help but look at what they stand for more than what they want.And i am sorry,but anyone who stands up and says that abortion should be ever woman's choice,IS NOT WHITE HOUSE MATERIAL ANYMORE...Look at it this way...If our leaders can not TRY to protect an innocent child,who has known no wrong,HOW CAN I DEPEND ON THEM TO Help ME? you can't.I know i stir a can of beans...But i would like to note this before i end my rambling today,just something to think about.
+++When we all stand before our Lord one day(and we will believe it or not),and the blood cries out to God of the 5,000,000 + unborn babies we in America alone have allowed to be slaughtered in the name of abortion,He may ask..Did you try to save even one of these?What will you say??? EVEN ONE???+++
You may not be able to stand on street corners,may not even know much about abortion,you may say i don't agree with it but it is their choice.But you know what?If you willingly vote someone in to run our country who says it is OK...You have agreed with them,and allowed another baby to be killed..Someone's grandchild,sister,brother,aunt,uncle,cousin,son or daughter.Think about that when you go to vote.I had this decision to make ,and for a while it was not easy this year.The country is in such distress right now,i am republican mentally,but if i know a democrat would lead better and have the morals our forefathers did i would vote for them.There were several MEN who were ''vice president possibilities'' for McCain,that in no way could i vote for them.Had they been chosen i would have had to write in a candidate..That really tore at me.The thought that i would have no say in it,broke my heart.But ALAS...Someone took that position that none ,mostly anyway,saw coming!After checking her out,i now can vote ,have a say,and believe in my heart i have done the right thing. I have told my son over and over,GOD ALWAYS GIVES A GOOD CHOICE,makes it fair..And he has.In the form of a Baby toting Momma from Alaska..

McCain/Palin..
ALL THE WAY!

That's the way is see it amidst our depression of 2008!!!!!We need some hero's and amongst the ruin they usually rise...God Bless The USA ....

While BloggerNews.net is known to provide up to the minute information on a wide variety of topics, at times a more in-depth analysis of a topic that is being written about by our writers is warranted. This section of BNN provides just that – an area of the site that looks deeper into a topic, delves into the actual facts behind it, and provides more than just a summary overview of what is happening right here and now.

From something as mundane as an overview of how credit scores work, to life and death topics such as mesothelioma, we are committed to creating a growing library of information for our readers. Know your cell phone can do this???????????????????????
==================================================================================
THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO.

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.Your
mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.
Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST Subject: Emergency
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out
of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial
112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the
emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed
even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday.
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the
spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your
cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have
the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile
phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive
your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles
away,
and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you
can unlock the doors (or the trunk). Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried
it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"
THIRD Subject: Hidden Battery Power
Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#
your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50%
increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell
next time.
FOURTH How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on
your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number
is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When
your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them
this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief
changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably
won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't
use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in
people stealing mobile phones.
And Finally....
FIFTH
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411
information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a
telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of
a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial:
(800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all.
Program this into your cell phone now.

Procter & Gamble wants to know if you approve of its support of the homosexual lifestyle

Company establishes toll-free number to call

May 2, 2008

Dear Betty,

Procter & Gamble wants to know if you approve its efforts to promote the homosexual lifestyle. It has established a toll-free number for you to call and vote to approve or disapprove its support of homosexuality.

P&G has added homosexual lovers to its soap opera “As the World Turns.” It has also added scenes of homosexuals with open mouth kissing. The motive behind P&G’s push is to desensitize viewers, especially younger viewers, to the homosexual lifestyle. The ultimate goal of homosexual activists is homosexual marriage.

Thousands of homosexual activists are already calling P&G.

The way it was-Where & when i grew up.From pigs to ''pot licker''.

This is my first entry on my new blog. i do hope you find it enjoyable.a place to relax and at times to drift back,to a simpler time.A time when we worked hard and had simple fun.To a time with fiddles and banjo's filling the summer nights,a time of friendship and socials.When grandma's made their own meds.,and outhouses were the norm.A time that we all may be living in again.This is a blog of love ,yet survival.I see bad times coming for us as a nation,and i fear most would not be ready for this.God gave us each a mind to use.He also warned us of hard times,and to prepare.Not just spiritually(although that is a must) but physically and mentally.To be prepared ,no matter what.So i do hope you will continue to return.I will blog almost daily as i can.I welcome any ideas and your imput..thank you for stopping by.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the time of year that my mind wanders back in time often.Winter and the Holidays..A time that i cherish.Childhood and all it's innosence,imaginations,and dreams.A time before we really knew what we all would one day face.Mine was a little different than some of the friends i made as i grew older.I thought life consisted of what we knew and everyone was the same.WOW! does school change that idea..lol.
But that's for a different time.I was born in 1963,in rural south central alabama.I am one of 4 kids,lived next door to my grandparents.My great,great ,great grands homesteaded this land in 1846.Our family still owns most of it.
As I grew up things were simpler..yes,simple yet hard.A simple life with a lot of work,but somehow most of the time we had fun with it.As Summer drew down,the days got shorter,with just a nip in the air right before dark.It signaled time to finish the summer crops,bury the onions and potatoes,gather wood quicker and start chopping on the lightard stumps we had found in the woods.The fallow had just been bundled and stored in the corn shed for winter feeding for the horse,mule and cows we had.That really came in handy about jan. and feb. each year.Most of the time it meant the difference in being able to feed our livestock or sell.By working hard,we never sold.They were there for the planting and birthing come spring,when life would start all over again.
We had some hogs grandpa kept,big tall white ones.They were certainly not the friendliest animals at our house but more times than one,they came in handy for a good laugh terrorizing our ''city cousins''..lol..They were not ever meant for pets,a few times each year we would have a ''hog killing''.The big iron syrup kettle would have a huge hot fire underneth it until the water boiled.That was for the hog cleaning.I never joined in that ,but i always watched.I knew this meat would feed us over a period of many moons.
The corn had been taken to Finks griss mill,the meal was ready to be picked up.It did always make the best fried cornbread and was great with the ''potlicker'' as grandma called it. Nothing but greens(turnips) with roots cooked with plenty of juice,and poured over the baked cornbread.Man ,was that good.i still enjoy cooking that.
Most of the old people that i remember as a child have gone on to be with Jesus,only a few remain.Mr. Buster,who is 95 now,and mrs. Gracie who i believe is about that same age.We passed by Mrs. Gracies yesterday and her daughter and son in law waved in the yard.Still makes a smile come on my face.
I am lucky to live at my grandparents home now,the place where i grew up.The new generation of kids and their friends,while teens, nicknamed it ''The Old Place''.My grandparents have long since passed,but their spirit remains with me.I love this land,i love my home.Not because of the material good of it,But because it was built,cared for and struggled with out of love.An enduring love that i will carry always with me.It made me who i am.I learned who God was here,about Jesus and the Holy spirit.I learned what honesty was,and what sharing was.My grandfather use to say that he had kept all the old hand plows,seeders,etc.long after he needed them, because one day his greatgrandkids may need them.Said to take care of all of it.That one day their very lives may depend on it..I use to think that was a little crazy to come from such a smart man..I don't anymore.
I do see a lot of people that one day very soon may be in a whole lot of trouble...The economy is getting really bad,and i only see it getting worse.I see a time very soon when my family may very well need those plows for a garden.When the fireplace may be the only heat we can afford(mainly use it now anyway).
In the last few years i have found a lot of sence in beginning to stock up on extra things,just in case.Lot of family members would depend on us if it got this bad.My grandkids may need me ...And in the words of grandad lee...Their very lives may depend on it...
