Round lampwork glass beads in various shades of green, with gold swirls and small whitish-blue specks accent set off the cord. Hello all,
Winter has officially arrived in south alabama!It was 13 degrees this morning at 5 am!ooooohhhhhh.I think the high today reached 40.We still have ice covering any water all around the yard.As my grandmother used to say''It popped the tail off the Lizard's last night'' and will again tonight.I really think about the elderly alone,pets outside ,even the wildlife.We let our water drip all last night to protect the pipes.NO freezes so that was good.I really feel for the homeless more than ever this kind of weather.I pray everyone had a warm place but i am sure there was many who froze most of last night.Maybe spring is not so far away.
Anyway not much too day today but house work,watching and playing with my little guys and now online for a little.They are watching spongebob..i so hate him but they like the show.Some good time to contest surf so here you go...check em out and don't forget my contest for a custom header i have going on now..check previous post and enter!!!

qtpies 7 twisted silver contest link!
Twisted Silver is a neat company that sells fun and funky jewelry. I am rather classical in my jewelry selections, but I managed to find a wonderful piece that fits my style. These Hip Hoop earrings in gold are darling! I actually have clear crystal beads on my set.people at Twisted Silver gave me a Tattoo Ring to give to one of my readers.
I happen to think the picture on their site does not do the ring justice, so I tried it on to take pictures for you. It sort of melts into your hand. It is a large ring, but thin enough not to be heavy or bulky at all. The ring is adjustable, so it will fit most fingers.
Here's the scoop. One of you will win this ring by leaving a comment about which piece of Twisted Silver jewelry you like from their site by January 13Th. I will announce a winner on Monday when I get back from my lovely weekend with hubby

coupons digital converter box /
Giveaway set for digital TV converters
By Jim Puzzanghera | Tribune Newspapers: Los Angeles Times
The federal government doesn't usually give things away, but starting Tuesday broadcast TV watchers can apply for a gift that could keep their sets from going dark in 2009.
Via a toll-free hot line and Web site the Commerce Department will begin accepting applications for coupons worth $40 off a no-frills converter box to allow older televisions to receive digital broadcast signals.
"We are open for business Jan. 1," said Bart Forbes, a spokesman for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Commerce Department agency running the program.
The $1.5 billion program is designed to help ease the major change coming on Feb. 17, 2009. That's when broadcast TV stations turn off their analog signals and start transmitting only in digital.
The program -- the biggest change in broadcast TV since the advent of color -- will free up valuable airwaves for public safety agencies and for new wireless phone and Internet services. It will also deliver clearer pictures and additional broadcast channels for people who don't have pay-TV service.
But some TV sets might have trouble making the technological leap. Ones without a built-in digital tuner will no longer be able to receive over-the-air signals unless owners obtain a special box to change the signals back to analog.
Those boxes are expected to be available starting in February at more than 14,000 government-certified retail outlets, including Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart. They will cost $59.95 to $69.95.
Satellite and cable customers won't need converter boxes for TVs they have hooked up to those systems. But there are as many as 26 million households in the U.S. that only receive over-the-air TV -- and millions more that may want the option during emergencies or power outages when cable and satellite transmissions are down.
That's the reason Eric Matsuoka, 58, of Montebello, Calif., plans to obtain a converter box coupon even though he has cable service. "I'm going to apply definitely, for backup," he said. "You're not thinking of just your immediate comfort zone, just watching television -- you've got to think in case something happens."
The federal agency has contracted with IBM to run the program. They have set up a toll-free number, 888-DTV-2009, which, starting at 5 a.m. CST Tuesday, will be staffed by operators who can take requests in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and four other languages. Applications can also be filled out at http://www.dtv2009.gov .

RECIPE! Make Some Chocolate Orangettes!!!!! yummy!
Hello and Happy Blessed Jan. 1 2008!
After an afternoon of taking down christmas decorations and tree,repositioning yhe furniture back again,The big chill set in! Wow..Temp. has dropped to 27 here now.Dothan is calling for 27 all night!Shows the difference from cities where the lights hold the temps and the country where they hit bottom!I am looking for 17 or 18 degrees tonight .That is what i expect with wind chill's far colder.Tomorrow night willprobably drop single digits before beginning a little warming trend.But it's jan. 1st!
Guys i found this wonderful recipe over @ Smitten kitchen's!
Orangettes!!!!! Try these at home......let me know what you think..
~~~Turns into this!!!!!
recipe here!!!!------------->>>Smitten kitchen's!orangettes and more!
Slice ends off four oranges, score the peel from one end to the other, and remove the peels from the oranges.
Slice the peels into thin strips and trim the edges.
Using a medium size pot, place the peels in boiling water and blanch them for a few minutes. Rinse the peels, and repeat this process a second time. This is done to remove the bitterness of the peels.
Prepare the simple syrup by combining 8 oz. water and 8 oz. sugar in a saucepan. Bring the syrup to a simmer, place the peels in the pot, and simmer for 1 hour. [Don’t do what Deb did, and not check on them, only to find that at 45 minutes the water had boiled off and many edges had begun to burn in the pan, and she wished she’d left the pot covered.] Once the peels have cooked, remove them from the pot, and place on a rack to cool and drain.
Melt 16 oz. dark chocolate over a double boiler. Dip the candied orange peels in the chocolate, remove them quickly, and let them cool on a piece of parchment paper. Store the orange peels in an airtight container your belly.
Goodby 2007,Hello 2008! NEW BEGINNINGS & Viechaotique
Today we have been cleaning up around the house and the yard.A good thing to go into the new year with.I have so tired of the same ole,same ole,in the house.So one of my things on my list of ''2008 nanna list'' are rearranging the house.Time for a new look and feel.The yard now looks sooooooo untidy it must be done.lol..
Things have got behind this summer and fall ,i just have not had time to get it all done.A bit difficult with the little one's running around.Kolby will take off in a second when you turn your back on him,or at least he did.He is getting better now so soon maybe i can get it under control again!There are a couple overgrown tree's that must come down as well.Summer storms damaged one and i think bugs got the other one.
This is a day to think about all the good and the bad and plan how to make next year better!
What are my plans for 2008? I have a few things floating around i have put off this year for one reason or the other...
1.finish my children's book entitled ''possum''.It is a story on how a baby opossum came to be a part of a human family and a few of the mishaps that happened.I hope it encourages less fear on wild animals. This book is based on a true story.
2.I have some songs i have written that i need to get sent off ,see what happens there.
3.More work on pro life..I try to be a voice for the babies that have no voice.
4.Be an advocate for the elderly and sick and neglected kids.
5.My son is awesome at comic books.He ,akes his own,i plan to help him get that started off for him.
6.I want to get a web site for my photographs and my son's painting's(he is great!)
7. Planning for 3 new additions to our family come Spring ..My nephew and his wife and my son and julie are expecting thier first in april.
8. Work harder at being a better christian, mom,nanna,wife,aunt,daughter,sister and friend.(and blogger.lol.)
9.Try to give my testimony more.Meet more peoplle in need of jesus...
10.Try a few ideas on making extra money online.
I am already looking forward to spring,my favorite time of the year.Gardens to till and plant,flowerbeds to move and arrange,seeds to sow...i just love it.
Easter comes early this year so my plans for that will be beginning soon.I have a huge family and friend affair for that.The celebration of Jesus's love for us! Wow!!!!
W e do a big dinner ,hide eggs for the kids and play music outside.I also have the arrival of my new grandbabies this spring,and great neice or nephew,1 in april,and the other 2 in May! So there will be babies everywhere running around by 2009..lol...I am looking so forward to that.Sometimes i ask myself am i crazy?lol..
I have missed out with Billy and Kolby doing the typical grandparents stuff..We can't spoil em and send em home,,,they are home.I would not change that for anything, but when you are the ''parents'' of the grands it is different in that way.You are the disciplinarian and such..And of course at the same time have a 15 year old..But the good lord above gives me strength and i so pray for knowledge and wisdom not to make many mistakes raising them.
Darrell and Julie are going over to a friends house tonight .They are having a bonfire for new years.How many times through the years have a done that!And always had a blast..They don't drink so i don't have to worry about that.
Well on to the remainder of my new years eve afternoon,I wish you all a very blessed and safe NEW YEAR...
Betty~Simply Southern
Before i close this blog tonight ,i want you to go by and check out Viechaotique.!If you have never been by ,you will be glad you found it...They have the prettiest stuff.look over their Crystal Brooches,gift baskets,candles ,soaps and much more!
2.I have some songs i have written that i need to get sent off ,see what happens there.
3.More work on pro life..I try to be a voice for the babies that have no voice.
4.Be an advocate for the elderly and sick and neglected kids.
5.My son is awesome at comic books.He ,akes his own,i plan to help him get that started off for him.
6.I want to get a web site for my photographs and my son's painting's(he is great!)
7. Planning for 3 new additions to our family come Spring ..My nephew and his wife and my son and julie are expecting thier first in april.
8. Work harder at being a better christian, mom,nanna,wife,aunt,daughter,sister and friend.(and blogger.lol.)
9.Try to give my testimony more.Meet more peoplle in need of jesus...
10.Try a few ideas on making extra money online.
I am already looking forward to spring,my favorite time of the year.Gardens to till and plant,flowerbeds to move and arrange,seeds to sow...i just love it.
Easter comes early this year so my plans for that will be beginning soon.I have a huge family and friend affair for that.The celebration of Jesus's love for us! Wow!!!!
W e do a big dinner ,hide eggs for the kids and play music outside.I also have the arrival of my new grandbabies this spring,and great neice or nephew,1 in april,and the other 2 in May! So there will be babies everywhere running around by 2009..lol...I am looking so forward to that.Sometimes i ask myself am i crazy?lol..
I have missed out with Billy and Kolby doing the typical grandparents stuff..We can't spoil em and send em home,,,they are home.I would not change that for anything, but when you are the ''parents'' of the grands it is different in that way.You are the disciplinarian and such..And of course at the same time have a 15 year old..But the good lord above gives me strength and i so pray for knowledge and wisdom not to make many mistakes raising them.
Darrell and Julie are going over to a friends house tonight .They are having a bonfire for new years.How many times through the years have a done that!And always had a blast..They don't drink so i don't have to worry about that.
Well on to the remainder of my new years eve afternoon,I wish you all a very blessed and safe NEW YEAR...
After a cup of coffee...or two: The Big Bloggy Move!
After a cup of coffee...or two: The Big Bloggy Move!
CLICK ABOVE TO GO DIRECTLY TO SITE .......
Megan at SortaCunchy and I were chatting about Blogger's (now different) comment policy and blogging in general, and our desire for a change, and in a flurry of emails (ok, it was a flurry of, like, three emails, but still, it can be hard for two moms with young kids to fit emailing into a busy day!) we came up with the idea that we should both debut our new blogs on the same day.
And then we thought maybe we should have a party and anyone else who had a new blog could join.
And then buttons were created and plans were made, and although I do this with the fear that it is only my excitement about my husband returning from deployment that makes me think this is a good idea, and maybe I was totally delusional when it came to me, I now announce (with fear and trembling) the details of...The Big Bloggy Move.
Are you looking to move to a new blogging platform or to self-host your blog?
Are you getting a new blog design for Christmas?
Is your New Year's Resolution to start a blog for the first time?
Then join us on Monday, February 11th for The Big Bloggy Move!
As long as your blog is new or a complete redesign (not just a new item in your sidebar, that would just be cheating) then you qualify! And we are giving you almost two months to work some bloggy magic.
On Monday, February 11th, come here to sign the Mr. Linky with your NEW blog address, and then visit everyone else's new blog, too.
Megan and I will both be hosting prizes on our new blogs that day, and if you'd like to host a prize at your blog, just put (prize) next to your name when you sign the Mr Linky.
And check back with Megan and I periodically, because we just might have a giveaway or two between now and then...including some FREE blog designs by some of your favorite designers!
But the details on that haven't been worked out yet, because I've had very important things to do, like stay up late watching movies with my hubby, and taking two-hour afternoon naps.
We have six months to make up for!
So mark your calendars for February 11th, add the code to your blog, spread the word, learn some html...or hire someone who knows some...
And get your move on, ya'll!
Win It! Shrek 3 DVD
(MY GRANDS WOULD LOVE THIS,THEY HAVE THE OTHER TWO AND THIS IS ONE OF THE WAYS THEY STAY BUST WHILE I AM WORKING OR ON HERE...LOL..THEY LOVE SHREK!))))
So, to win the Shrek 3 DVD so you can sit your kids down for 2 glorious hassle-free, clean-up free hours of uninterrupted silence, or if you just want to see one of the two movies I saw in a theater this year, here’s what you have to do:
Make a post on your blog (linkbacks are appreciated, so we can spread the word) telling us what you do to keep the kids busy while you get things done other than sitting them down in front of the television. Admitting you do sometimes sit the kids in front of the TV gets you bonus points. (I don’t want to be the only one, here, who uses the electronic babysitter!) Link us to your blog post in the comments here so we don’t miss a single entry!
Here is another one i'd love to win!pop up narnia ...everyone in the household loves narnia....
A Book Buds challenge:
Win a copy of pop-up Narnia
One reason I haven't been reviewing books is that I'm frantically cracking the whip over at Cybils, the online literary awards I helped mastermind and edit. Three of the first four lists of finalists are ready to go; they'll be posted Jan. 1.
Now, I know just about everybody who has anything to do with Cybils has already blogged about it, so I'll do something a little different.
Here's a challenge for you. You can win a copy of The Chronicles of Narnia Pop-up, illustrated by the incomparable Robert Sabuda.
The contest'll run from Jan. 1 when the short lists are posted until midnight, Jan. 5.*
